Screening of El Sistema
Based on the Venezuelan commitment to keeping joy at the forefront of the student’s experience, El Sistema creates a safe haven to build a sense of inclusiveness while building self esteem and a child’s sense of value. This film tells the story of the beginning and success of the movement which spread worldwide.

Award-winning documentary El Sistema Film
The Sistema program of Venezuela, which helps impoverished young people through classical music, has reached 310,000 children, including Gustavo Dudamel, music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
The documentary El Sistema shares the uplifting story about the system. Meet the people behind the local programs in southern California and enjoy a live music performance.
The NY Times says, “Since the program’s founding, El Sistema estimates that it reaches 310,000 children in 280 teaching locations, called núcleos, said Eduardo Méndez, the executive director. About 500 orchestras and other ensembles, from preschool groups using paper cutouts of instruments to the world-class Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, fall under El Sistema’s umbrella. Mr. Abreu has said his goal is to reach 500,000 children by 2015.”
Joy Garden Events will screen this award-winning film May 4, 2013, at 6:00 pm near Temecula on a 14′ screen outdoors.
